UK Green Investments (UKGI) under the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has announced investments and contracts for the renewable and green energy sectors in UK. UKGI will invest 100 million pounds to fund managers Equitix and Sustainable Development Capital (SDCL). These two Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency (NDEE) fund managers will inspire foreign and domestic firms to invest in NDEE projects. These investments brighten the chance of opening of UK Green investment Bank.
UK is the sixth largest country in low carbon goods, green environment and other environmental services. It is expected that UK will have 30-45% of energy from renewable products by 2030.
The meeting at Lancaster House, London was centered on solving the issues for conversion, utilization and distribution through ecosystem. The use of technology in decarbonising the power sector was also discussed. UK Government is taking steps to bring a secure, safe and clean energy mix to existence and open the market for long term investments.
Announcement made at the summit are:
- Closed Loop Recycling announced 12 million pounds of investment to expand and increase production at Dagenham facility.
- UKGI invests 100 million pounds to fund managers – Equitix and SDCL
- Grupotec, engineering company from Spain to invest and expand in UK
- Power Electronics to open its UK headquarters in UK
With investments pouring in from global companies, the jobs for the renewable and green energy sector are going to rise. Engineering firms with innovative technology to help in decarbonising and maintaining green environment will also start hiring engineers, technicians and skilled professionals.
